Privacy Policy
Applies to Android ย ยทย Last updated: May 2026
MoMo Brief, developed by SpiceGH, is a privacy-first Android app that reads your MTN Mobile Money SMS messages, parses them into structured transactions, and turns them into summaries and insights โ entirely on your device. We do not operate a backend that stores your SMS messages or transaction history.
What Data the App Handles
When you grant SMS permission, the app reads relevant messages from your inbox (sender address, message body, timestamp, and Android message ID) and stores the following locally on your device:
- Parsed transactions (type, category, amount, fees, taxes, balance)
- Transaction IDs, counterparty, and reference details
- Network name and raw SMS text for supported transaction messages
- Suspicious or scam-like messages flagged by the Safety feature
- App settings including filter preferences and notification-related settings
All data is stored using on-device app storage and is never transmitted to our servers.
Permissions We Request
- READ_SMS โ to read relevant SMS messages already stored on your device
- RECEIVE_SMS โ to detect new incoming SMS messages for live updates
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS โ to show daily and weekly summary notifications
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED โ to restore scheduled notifications after device restart
If you deny SMS permission, the core SMS-based summary features will not work.
Third-Party Services
The app integrates the following third-party SDKs. Each service has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data:
- Firebase Analytics โ used to measure app usage (screen views, session duration, engagement events). We do not intentionally send SMS bodies or parsed transaction details to Analytics. See Firebase Privacy.
- Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) โ used to display banner ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP address, and ad interaction data. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your SMS content or transaction history. Data is shared only with the third-party providers listed above, who process it under their own privacy policies.
Your Choices
- Revoke SMS permission in Android settings
- Disable app notifications in Android settings
- Reset or limit ad personalisation through your Google / Android settings
- Clear app storage or uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
Children's Privacy
MoMo Brief is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly design the app to collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
Any updates will be reflected on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance.
